Science
Pioneers
Science Pioneers is a not-for-profit organization
whose mission is to create innovative and supportive educational activities
that will encourage the youth of Kansas City to understand and use science
in their careers and everyday life. MRI, whose founder Charles N. Kimball
was instrumental in establishing Science Science Pioneers' flagship program, the Greater Kansas City Science and Engineering Fair, celebrated its 50th year in 2001. Science Pioneers also coordinates a yearly series of teacher workshops, science lectures for students, and a mentoring program. With support from MRI, Science Pioneers hosts Expanding Your Horizons, an annual conference that encourages sixth through eighth grade girls to explore careers in science, math, engineering, and technology. |
