Statistical Support

MRI statisticians support analytical chemists, biologists, and toxicologists in all experimental aspects of method development, improvement, and validation; interlaboratory studies; and stability studies using principles of experimental design and statistical analysis. Our studies include:

• Evaluating stability studies/assays
• Developing experimental design and performing data analysis for an EPA/OPPT study to assess the feasibility of a composite wipe preparation method for lead analysis for EPA/OPPT
• Developing experimental design, performing data handling and analysis, and preparing the report for an EPA study of Pb certified reference materials
• Developing and improving a method for EPA's Office of Solid Waste for determining detection limits affecting listing decisions for hazardous waste based on the presence or absence of a particular constituent
• Providing input for calibration experiment design, data handling, and all statistical analyses for an interlaboratory study to assist EPA's Environmental Monitoring and Support Laboratory, Las Vegas, in establishing practical quantitation and detection limits for PCDDs and PCDFs in a hazardous waste incinerator scrubber water matrix
