MRI provides industry and government
with solutions for the assessment of
human exposure to chemicals, both from
occupational and environmental sources.
We have conducted health investigations at Superfund sites for the Agency
for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry, helped develop guidelines
on biological monitoring
for workplace chemicals and pesticides for
the World Health Organization, and assessed
exposure to priority pollutants in foods, soils, stream effluents, stack
emissions, water, and human tissues.
MRI coordinates major exposure assessment study activities,
such as
analytical and specimen collection and shipment and analytical/bioanalytical
analyses.
- Providing laboratory services and support for the
biological data collection and analysis phase of a study.
- Recruiting qualified personnel, such as phlebotomists
and laboratory
technicians, from near the study site to perform sample collection,
preparation, and storage.
- Interfacing with local health department officials
and principal investigators.
- Preparing and shipping specimens to government
agencies, local hospital laboratories, and subcontractor medical laboratory
for analytical tests.
- Providing unique ID number to each sample for tracking
through collection, aliquoting, transport, and analysis and complying
with QA/QC requirements.
- Reporting routine blood, urine, and biomedical
test results by specimen ID and then compiling data and transferring
by magnetic media in EBCIDIC.
- Documenting performance in work plans, site visit
reports, weekly and
monthly progress reports, final study reports, and special oral presentations.
- Providing database design and management
- Providing pediatric and adult neuropsychological
testing
- Procuring medical services (e.g., bone lead XRF
testing, bone densitometry, pulmonary function testing, etc.)
