Our employees know their work helps make the world a better place. Perhaps that's why our workplace is known for having employees who smile as they walk down the halls, play volleyball over lunch, and participate in local charities.

MRI offers structured programs and benefits that help define the MRI culture and management’s commitment to quality.

FORMAL COMMUNICATIONS SYSTEMS
These formal communications systems are designed to ensure each staff member understands his or her role in MRI's success.

Balanced Score Card (BSC)
The BSC is a management system that translates MRI's organizational mission, vision, values, and strategic plan into performance. This system helps drive our day-to-day performances toward excellence and best-in-class culture.

Performance Appraisal System
MRI's performance appraisal system directly links individual goals with the Institute's goals through the Balanced Score Card.

All-Staff and Division/Department Meetings
MRI promotes a communications
system where management and employees can discuss how the Institute is doing on a regular basis. Whether it's face-to-face or electronic teleconferencing to remote locations, MRI supports an open communications culture.

Intranet
Our electronic communications medium, MRInet, provides document
resources, along with information about current MRI events, which are reported in our bi-weekly FYI online newsletter.

COMMITMENT TO EQUAL EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY
MRI's commitment to Equal Employment Opportunity is communicated to all staff members both through the application process and its support for Affirmative Action:

"MRI does not discriminate against any employee or applicant for employment because of race, color, religion, sex, disability, national origin, or age (except for age on the basis of requirements for compliance with provisions of the Walsh-Healy Public Contracts Act), or because the person is a disabled veteran or veteran of the Vietnam era. It is also the policy of the Institute to insure that employees are treated during their employment on the same basis.''

MORE THAN A PLACE TO WORK…
MRI understands that it's important to balance work with play. Our employees enjoy camaraderie created through many MRI-sponsored activities.

The MRI Staff Activities Committee hosts year-round activities where staff meet and get
to know one another. Events are scheduled each year with themes ranging from
a barbecue for United Way, to a Mexican Fiesta Night, to a Christmas party for children, to our annual Chili Cook-off.

All monetary proceeds support local charities.

The MRI On-site Fitness Facilities include:

• A gym available to all staff and their families free of charge for night
and weekend use

• Weight rooms with exercise equipment available during regular office hours

Lunchtime basketball and volleyball provide an opportunity to meet fellow employees and enjoy healthy
competition. MRI also is an annual participant in Kansas City's Corporate Challenge, taking 1st place in our division in 2000, 2001, 2002 and 2003!
